Purchase requisitions are a document that is used when an employee needs to make a purchase or an order request on behalf of the company. A paper document typically circulates in the office to notify department managers or the purchasing officer of the purchasing decision so that the purchasing department can start the purchasing process. There are signature approvals put in place to prevent fraud and allow finance to check against the budget.
