eSmart Systems is an example of a manufacturer that designed and implemented an automated demand response solution. Essentially connecting sensors to smart meters and leveraging machine based intelligence to project the forecasted consumption. eSmart was then able to reduce the outages and monitor assets to improve efficiency.
Technology is driving a change in the market. New business models need to be invented to handle new concepts like sustainable energy, smart grids and distributed production. This calls for better aggregation of operational data, customer information and financial data.
