Laval International will be hosting a barbeque and bake sale “Smoosh Your Boss Silent Food Auction” in support of the “United Way – Windsor Essex County” program “On Track to Success” event on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 1:00 pm.
In this fundraising event, bidding is made on food items to be cracked, poured or dumped on the nominees. This year nominees are – David Wightman and Moez Noureldaeim (from Laval Tool and Mould Ltd).
All funds raised from this event will go directly towards helping one local high school student overcome the economic challenges faced to achieve a high school diploma and post-secondary education.
A student from a low-income family has a 38% likelihood of attending college or university whereas a student from a higher income family has a 63% chance of attending post-secondary education*. On Track to Success is a direct intervention to change the odds for students in need. Students enrolled in the On Track program will have the chance to earn up to $4,000 for post-secondary education, as well as access to services including tutoring, social and recreational activities, prospects to volunteer in the community, career building and mentoring opportunities, and individualized support. The program is currently in its third year and now supports more than 60 students in grades 9-11 at both the Leamington and West Windsor sites.
Vox ISM is donating to support this incredible fundraiser benefiting United Way Windsor-Essex County. Each year, Vox ISM as a company support such crucial charities to help less fortunate people.
