Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) is a document that gives comprehensive information about a pending delivery. The goal of an ASN is to inform the customer when shipping occurs and provide physical aspects about the shipment so the customer can be prepared to accept delivery.

When you ship items from a warehouse, you record the shipment on the related business document, such as a sales order, warehouse shipment or transfer order, and then print the associated paperwork.
